Silicon Valley in California is one of the most important locations for the high-tech and IT industry worldwide. Companies such as Google, Facebook, Apple, Adobe, Hewlett-Packard, Intel and Cisco have their headquarters in the valley; German companies such as Siemens, Volkswagen and SAP also have a branch office here. Stanford University provides those companies with the bright minds they need. From the early days up to now, the university has produced more than 30 Nobel Prize winners. It is also the fourth richest university in the world, with endowment assets of around 38 billion US dollars – very impressive. We had a look at the university and visited the campus of some of the IT companies.
