Memphis (TN)

Memphis, the second largest city in Tennessee, is located directly on the Mississippi River and likes to call itself the Home of the Blues and the Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll; musicians such as Elvis Presley, B.B. King, and many others started their careers here. The famous Beale Street, Sun Studio, the Blues Hall of Fame, and B.B. King’s Blues Club are important landmarks for music fans.

The city also played a central role in the American Civil Rights Movement: Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in 1968 which houses today the National Civil Rights Museum. Another highlight is Graceland, the former estate of Elvis Presley, which attracts millions of visitors annually and is, after the White House in Washington D.C., the most visited house in the United States.
