Milwaukee is located on Lake Michigan and is Wisconsin’s largest city with a population of about 580,000. The large breweries Pabst, Schlitz, Stroh and Miller, founded by German immigrants, made Milwaukee the American beer capital. The River Walk, which runs through the city, and the historic Third Ward District invite visitors to stroll around.
Sculpture Milwaukee, an outdoor exhibition held annually with changing exhibits, is a real highlight. Some 20 sculptures by well-known artists decorate downtown and Wisconsin Avenue, which runs directly to the spectacular Milwaukee Art Museum.
