Denver is located almost exactly one mile above sea level and is therefore also called “Mile High City”. The city’s international airport is the second largest in the world in terms of land area. Finally, Denver is the largest city within a radius of 800 kilometers, as a glance at the map of the American southwest immediately confirms.

Those who only know the airport of the city definitely missed something. Despite of its size, the city can be easily explored by walking. On 16th Street Mall, main street of downtown, there is a free shuttle bus. Here you can find those 10 colorful pianos that invite passers-by to give a little concert in the streets. Don’t miss the blue bear at the Colorado Convention Center which is 13 meters high, and the horse on the giant chair in front of the city library
