Parks and Monuments in the Southwest

Southern California and Arizona are rich in national parks and national monuments. First of all, there are the historic buildings, some carved into cliffs, some in the open countryside or standing on rocky hills. In addition, there are the parks of the Sonora and Mojave Deserts, where various species of cacti grow. The Joshua Tree is actually only found in the northern part of Joshua Tree National Park in the Mojave Desert.
