The Indian-British sculptor Anish Kapoor is one of the world’s most respected artists of our time. His monumental works of art cannot be assigned to any particular style; for his artworks and sculptures, he uses materials as diverse as stone, steel, stainless steel, wax, canvas and PVC.
He became world-famous with his work “Cloud Gate”, also known as “The Bean”; the 110-ton stainless steel structure is located in Millennium Park in the heart of Chicago. Kapoor also designed the “ArcelorMittal Orbit”, a 115-metre-high tower that, with its twisted steel struts, reminds of an oriental hookah. The sculpture was erected for the 2012 Olympic Games in London; its observation deck is open to the public.
