Joannis Avramidis worked almost exclusively with the standing human figure, but beyond gender, age, or individuality. Influenced by classical Greek art, he consistently defined the body in his sculptures as a column in which eyes, mouth, and nose are not visible. The limbs also merge with the body to form a uniform shape, with anatomical details drastically reduced or completely omitted.
While his early works consisted of single columns, the artist later developed larger sculptures in which he closely combined individual column elements into a fused block of figures, whereby his works of art always consist of an odd number of figures.
