The sculptures of Danish artist Jeppe Hein are characterized by their interactive and playful nature. The artist frequently uses mirror mazes to transform spaces and involve the audience in his art, as well as water fountains that respond to the presence of visitors.
His installations often create an unexpected experience that challenges the viewer’s perception. The most well-known example is his “Modified Social Benches”, whose unusual shapes invite viewers to rethink their seating habits.
Hein wants to surprise people with his participatory art and invite them to engage in a dialogue about his works. This is why the majority of his works are displayed in public places, so that they reach as many people as possible, even without visiting a museum. For the artist, “art finds the city.”
Bright red benches, colorful squares and dancing street lamps: art can not only be beautiful, but also really fun!
