Faxe M. Müller’s work is all about the wedge-shaped body, a three-dimensional geometric form that continuously tapers from one wide to one narrow side, similar to a wedge. Starting from this basic form, the artist develops a multitude of variations, linear, intertwined, twisted or interwoven. The designs for his sculptures are created in digital 3D models, which are then transferred into real elements, welded together and finally polished.
Müller mostly uses Corten steel for his works; his artworks do not have descriptive names, but normally begin with the letters “KK” (for “Keilkörper” meaning wedge-shaped body), followed by a degree indicating the degree of rotation. The sculptures achieve their special effect to a large extent through the fact that they always appear different depending on the viewer’s perspective.
