Hopf, Judith

Germany

* 1969 Karlsruhe

In her multifaceted work, which covers a wide variety of media from sculpture to film to drawing, Judith Hopf frequently draws on elements from our industrial and technological environment. In her artworks, she addresses – in a thoroughly socially critical manner – the influence of visible and invisible architectures, technologies and objects on people and their lifestyles.

The artist’s preoccupation with everyday objects and materials is evident e.g. in an air-filled tire, a trivial object making today’s flows of people and goods unthinkable. And the person who is completely absorbed with the screen of their mobile phone and forms an inseparable unit with it also clearly reflects our everyday life. Judith Hopf likes to use materials such as brick, concrete or glass for her sculptures.
