Calgary is located right east of the Rocky Mountains and is the largest city between the metropolitan areas on the west coast (Vancouver) and the east (Toronto, Montréal). The city is the center of the Canadian petroleum industry, but it is also known for its country music and therefore is often called “Nashville of the North”. The traditional Calgary Stampede, the largest rodeo show in the world, puts the city in festival mood and has been doing so for more than 100 years.
For two weeks it is all about calf roping and bull riding, rodeo shows, skilful cowboys and pretty cowgirls. You should allow at least two days for a visit in this incredible city.
