Von der Goltz, Hubertus

Germany

* February 20, 1941 Groß Bestendorf

Hubertus von der Goltz’s artistic work is mainly about the human figure, mostly reduced to a stylized, slender silhouette. The topic of balance is characteristic of his artworks; his human figures seem to balance weightlessly and usually at lofty heights on narrow beams, on skyscrapers, on medieval towers or on bridges, high above the roaring traffic of real life.

The recurring motif of balancing symbolizes the human journey through life, which is characterized by a constant struggle for harmony, security and stability. Those who balance must concentrate on themselves and their path; the artist sees the eternal search for balance as a symbol of human life with all its daily challenges.
